Most meat products are high in cholesterol and fat. In addition to this, modern farming techniques use steroids, animal feed, and veterinarian drugs. The animals are forced to gain weight quickly, live in crowded spaces and under great stress. They are given antibiotics and sedatives amongst many other things, and thus we need to limit our meat consumption or buy only organic, steroid/antibiotic free chicken or beef.
Buy the leanest meat possible and remove the skin because it contains a lot of fat.
Daily consumption of a cup of milk is recommended because it contains wholesome animal protein and is high in calcium. So make sure to buy low fat milk! Any other dairy product you buy should be low fat as well.
Cheese usually contains a great deal of fat. They are very tasty and I like them myself, but I consume them in moderation and I recommend you do the same!
One of the best sources of protein is low fat cottage cheese. It contains all the essential amino acids. Try it with low fat yoghurt!
Egg whites are purely protein and do not contain cholesterol or fat. Eggs can be boiled, poached, or fried (in a small amount of oil).
