Different foods have different digestive times!

Nutrients break down at different times in the body. The digestion of different nutrients starts in different sections of the digestive tract. If an easy to digest dish gets in the alimentary canal behind one that is more difficult to digest, then it needs to wait until the stomach digests the meal before that. It is similar to a situation when you are in a hurry but there is a slower car in front of you that you cannot overtake: you must wait.

It's very important to take digestion times into consideration when you compile your daily nutrition. The stomach usually starts with the food that takes the longest time and is the most difficult to digest, which is protein or fat. Until the end of this, other foods that are easy and quick to digest wait in the stomach. It can even take as long as eight hours, therefore the digestion process can extend from 2 hours to 8 hours!

For longer digestion, more energy is needed. As digestion is the body's first task, we get tired from long processes and require more sleep. Apart from this, during digestion more toxins develop.

However, the digestion of foods in the correct order uses only minimal amounts of energy. This speeds up the metabolism, and can result in weight loss. The correct order of meals composes the levels in the stomach and helps increase efficiency of digestion.
